The Suit

This is the suit that my dad wore when he was little that has been passed down to every Buck boy to wear. All of the boys throughout the years have had their picture taken in this suit. Needless to say, it doesn't really get worn anywhere because it is 60+ years old and my child would be the one to hurt it.

It was so fun to have my mom come up and try to take the traditional picture of Alec. Made me so proud to finally have a boy that could share in this fun tradition. Of course I gave the suit right back for my mom to take care of and ship off to the next cousin in line. Love my Alec!

Happy Halloween!

All I can say is I tried to take pictures of the boys for Halloween. :) Alec was Pooh Bear and Keaton was a Honey Bee. They both looked darling. Alec just couldn't understand why we rang doorbells and didn't go into their houses. After a rousing trip around the block for candy, Alec fell asleep just as we came around the corner to our house. Happy Halloween from the Cefalos!

The Shizzle

Oh yes is it about time that I updated our family blog. I am horrible at it. I envy people who take the time and effort to keep it updated.

Here is what has been happening around the Cefalo home:

Keaton Buck Cefalo was born on 1-11-11. He weighed 7 lbs. exactly and was 20 inches long. He is the sweetest baby. We just can't get enough of this little dude and are so grateful for his spirit in our home. He changes everyday in fact these pictures are a little outdated!

The night we got home from the hospital we received a call from the stake executive secretary about meeting with the 1st councelor of the stake presidency the next morning. Tony was called to be the 2nd councelor in the bishopric in our ward. He is very excited to be able to serve in this position. We had to keep the secret for a whole week, I am proud to say I didn't tell anyone except who we were counciled to tell. The new bishop is absolutely wonderful and the 1st councilor is our good friend.

On Wednesday, Alec had his tonsils and adenoids taken out. He also had tubes put in his ears. He has been doing well as expected. It was quite rough today but hope he will be on the mend soon. He also had some allergery testing done and we found out he is quite allergic to dogs and eggs. Not sure what that means but we'll find out more when we meet with the doctor in two weeks.

It's been a busy couple of weeks. I won't lie we are tired and a bit worn out but feel extremely blessed. We have such wonderful family and friends that have done so much for us. We know we are doing what is right and are in the place we should be.

Boy! Keaton Buck Cefalo is scheduled via c-section to come into the world on 1-11-11. We couldn't be happier to have another sweet boy come into our home. Yay for little boys!

Our Little Miracle

On Friday, June 4, I went in for my first ultrasound. As we started the ultrasound my doctor could see I was pregnant but we could not see any baby. I held my breath as this was not the first time this had happened. My first pregnancy had been the same, my body thought I was pregnant but there was not a baby forming. With a heavy heart, I accepted the fate and we talked about how to proceed. My doctor of course wanted to check blood levels to see if they were going up like they should be.

That weekend Tony and I fasted and prayed that we would know how to proceed and that my body would be able to take care of what needed to happen. We also fasted for our doctor that she would be inspired in her care. We felt such peace and love and knew everything would be alright. As we waited for a phone call the following Tuesday, the doctor talked with me about my blood levels that they weren't conclusive in showing I would miscarry. I talked with her about concerns of being out of town and miscarrying. We decided to schedule a D&C so that my body would be able to heal quickly.

I got another phone call that day from the nurse telling me that the doctor really would like to do another ultrasound. I protested since we knew what was happening and I just didn't have the heart to see nothing there. The doctor insisted and so I went in trusting her judgement. As I lay there watching the screen, sure enough there was our little miracle baby, heart beating away. The doctor said, I knew that baby was in there.

I am so grateful to an inspired doctor and a loving Heavenly Father that knew this little baby was supposed to come to our home. I am due on January 17, 2 days after my birthday. We are so excited!

MS Bike Ride

Tony had the opportunity to ride the MS Bike Ride this year in support of our sister in law Ashley. Ashley was diagnosed with MS shortly after she had her son Logan. This was Tony's second 100 mile bike ride this year and he did fantastic! We were so proud of him and his accomplishment. Thank you to everyone that supported him in this race and Ashley!

Summer Jobs

For most of us when we think of summer during our teenage years, we think of our summer jobs. Most of us can say that we sure didn't want to make a career out of them. My first two summers were spent cleaning hotel rooms. I was horrible at it, why maybe it was the horific outfits I had to wear or the creepy men that lurked around. Anyway, Krista and Misty have really wanted a job but with the economy nothing is available. Yesterday, was the job fair for Lagoon. I don't think any teenager really wants to work at Lagoon but its a pretty much shoe in at least they thought.

I drove them to the Junior High where the job fair was being held as we turned the corner I could see the line. There had to be at least 4-500 people there. For Lagoon? It must be bad out there. Well 4 hours later and the line being cut off literally right behind them for consideration, they have a job! I am excited for them. Now when they are my age they can look back and laugh at the summer jobs. Yah for Lagoon!

Preference

We had the pleasure of chaperoning Preference at the Highschool on Saturday. Misty is on student council and they were in charge of the dance. We had a great time and when do we ever get a chance to dress up? I did feel old though.

So I know Tony will be totally embarrased but I just had to share his accomplishment. We have been doing weight watchers together since beginning of October and he has lost over 50 lbs. Crazy! Here is a before and a current photo.
I am so proud of him! For myself I too have lost around 50 lbs but that is since I had the baby does that count? Isn't Alec so cute in his BYU jersey? Go BYU!

Christmas Miracles

Who doesn't love a few Christmas miracles that are insignificant but make your day? After months and months of work we are finally done with refinishing our crib. My parents had given us the crib all of us kids used and was much older than me. After stripping down coats and coats of paint and sanding it down, and adding a beautiful finish, it is finally done. Tony surprised me by putting it all together last night. Here is a picture. It doesn't do justice how beautfiul it is now and how talented Tony is. I also had to take a picture of Alec sleeping in it this morning. He is going strong at 2 hours, which is a miracle.

The second miracle is Tony bought me a new washer and dryer. Who ever thought that a washer and dryer could be so exciting. For a family of 8, it is super exciting. Although it's my Christmas present, they were delivered early this morning. I seriously cannot wait to use them. On a side note- we would love to give our old ones which work well for being 10 years old to someone who needs them. Contact me if you know of anyone. Here is a picture of my red beauties!

How he came...

I am a horrible blogger but I have intentions of catching up on the last couple of months, we have had a lot going on! I was thinking the other day, I told everyone a fewt things about Alec and how he arrived but haven't gone into details. I hope you'll humor me. :)

Alec's name was chosen simply because Aarone and Amber are born in August and we thought it would be nice to follow the "A" name tradition. His middle name Genero is Tony's Grandfather's name and Tony's middle name except for Tony's is just simply done with a "G". Tony and our kids all have an association with the number 7 related to their birthdays, it's strange but true. So, when Alec was born on August 7 it just was meant to be!

Alec was due on August 16 but made his grand entrance a week or so early. I didn't complain although it was quite humorous he came at that time. For those who don't know, I was an Event Manager for Stampin' Up!. My main event I focus on is our yearly convention typically held in Salt Lake City. It can range from 2500-6000 people. We all had a good laugh when I found out I was due a week after my event.

My boss kept saying, "If you can make it to Thursday then it will be great." He even got my a scooter to ride around the convention center. I was very embarrased but grateful in the end. I had a doctor's appointment on that Thursday the 6th and my doctor told me it would be at least 2 more weeks. She even made me schedule 2 appointments for the next couple weeks. Well, Tony and I were sleeping down at the Hotel Monaco in Salt Lake that night and I woke up about 11 and told Tony I think my water broke. After about a half hour of deciding if my water really had broken, we packed up our stuff and headed to the hospital.

Sure enough Alec was on his way. After almost 16 hours of labor I never dialated enough to push him out. They decided to do a C-section around 5:30 pm and Alec was born at 6:15 pm. I was just grateful to have him out! Needless to say, Alec waited until Thursday to be born.

I can't believe that was 8 weeks ago tomorrow. He is getting so big and chubby. He is starting to smile and talk to us. We just love him to death.

Now I need to update everyone on all the other things happening around here, never a dull moment!

Grandpa William O. Buck

My Grandpa Buck passed away exactly a week ago today, he was 88 years old. Tony and I were so lucky we had taken Alec down to visit Gram and Grandpa the week before. Grandpa at the time was doing okay and actually woke up the next day talking about our sweet Alec.

We had a grave side service on Saturday surrounded by family and friends in Evanston, Wyoming. We felt sad but rejoiced in what a great man and what a great life he had. We know he is surrounded now by friends and family in Heaven.

We love you Grandpa Buck and will miss your sweet smile and having you here with us!

I guess it is about time I updated our blog, I didn't realize it had been so long. Tony and I got back from our fabulous trip to Hawaii on Tuesday morning. We had some trouble getting there, when we went to check-in they informed us that our plane to Kona had mechanical problems and so they cancelled the flight.

So after many hours at the airport in Salt Lake we finally got to Maui and had to stay over night. The next morning we took a 7 man plane (including the pilot) from Maui to Kona, it was incredible. The rest of the week was filled with sun, travelling to see waterfalls, a volcano, snorkeling with sea turtles and fish, whale watching, a luau, and beautiful scenery. It just couldn't have been more delightful. I'll post some more details and pictures soon!

Getting home was a bit of a challenge, but we enjoyed the extra time we got to spend in the warm weather and just being together. I have missed having my buddy with me 24/7 this week and have also missed the sunshine (it's currently snowing right now).

Baby update- I am 20 weeks along almost 21 weeks and no we don't know what we are having. Since we couldn't get home from Hawaii I missed my ultrasound and have it rescheduled for next Wednesday the 8th. I'll keep everyone posted. I have been feeling great, had a regular doctor's appointment this week and I measure right on for 20 weeks and have only gained 4 pounds. :) I tested negative for Gestational diabetes but my thryoid is still off, which I am not surprised about. I now feel the baby kicking and moving around, it is the best feeling in the world.

I could just scream I am so excited!! Tony and I fell into a great deal going to the Big Island of Hawaii in March. We just couldn't pass it up, especially since all the cards seem to be aligned for us to go. We will be staying a full week at the beautiful http://www.hiltonwaikoloavillage.com/. Oh the warm sand between our toes, why aren't you here right now?!?!

Gotta find me a maternity swimsuit, oh boy, any ideas out there let me know.....

12 week appointment

This morning I had my 12 week appointment with my doctor. I am officially 12 weeks and 3 days pregnant, moving right along! The best part of the appointment was being able to hear the babies heartbeat. How can you not cry and feel such a sense of relief? I finally feel like I can relax and enjoy this new life inside of me.

I also had lost 2.5 pounds which I wasn't surprised due to the fact I still can't eat much. I am starting to feel better and my appetite is coming back but I still can only eat small amounts of things. I think my stomach is growing but it's hard to tell when it wasn't so small to begin with. I'm in that in between stage where people are wondering hum, maybe she could be expecting or is she just gaining weight. Makes me laugh!!

Other than that, life is crazy as usual at the Cefalo house. The kids are back in their routines and busy as ever. Will life ever slow down? I can't complain because I love it all, especially that husband of mine!!!

How about some good news?

I don't know about you all, but I feel like all I have heard lately is bad news mixed with a slight bit of good. Even our yucky inversion here makes you just feel yucky. I decided that it is about time to share some good news, lift our spirits for a minute. Ready?

We are proud to announce the newest Cefalo will be joining our family sometime around August 16. Yep, I have a bun in my oven, isn't that great?! Why is that you feel so blessed to be carrying a new life and at the same time very angry inside that you have to be so darn nauseous all the time? I have come to love cereal and peanut butter sandwiches because they really don't have a smell and actually taste so good. Hopefully as my first trimester is about coming to an end in roughly 2 weeks I'll start feeling good again.

I had my first ultrasound a couple weeks ago and everything looked great. We feel so blessed and are so excited for our new addition!!

Life of a teenager

Misty and Amber have been both going to the orthodontist now for several months. Misty actually a tad bit longer but who's keeping track. Misty has this really cool contraption in her mouth called the "spider", she doesn't think it's so cool.

Amber has had spacers in, in preperation for her braces that went on today. It was a long process but she was a great sport. I think the braces look super cute on her. She got clear braces and hot pink bands. Oh the love of being a teenager.

I just had to share the cutest picture of the two youngest Buck grandchildren. My mom bought Lizzy (Renn's youngest) and Logan (Chad's son) the cutest Santa and Mrs. Claus outfits. After many attempts for a picture together this is what we got. How can you not love these two!!

Eagle Court of Honor

On Sunday, we had the special experience of honoring Aarone in receiving his Eagle. Along with Aarone, another boy recieved his also. We were so proud of him and his accomplishment. We were happy to be able to celebrate and let him receive the recognition he deserved.

It was a special evening with the Veterans of Foregn war doing a flag folding ceremony, many people speaking on all their accomplishments, and a beautiful cake. Thank you to everyone who came and paid tribute to Aarone. Aarone was also honored at the Clearfield City council for his accomplishments. Here are a few pictures.

Okay, here goes:

1. I went to about every college in the state, well not really but I tried out quite a few. Just couldn't make up my mind what I wanted to do. I did end up with a bachelors and master degree so I'm ok.
2. I am a rule follower. For instance, if the carpool lane has a double line that means don't cross it. If a box is supposed to taped on the bottom then that is the way it should be done. It's really hard for me to bend on stupid things.
3. Like Teresa, I am a tattoo sister. I have a tattoo on my right foot. Dumb decision that we made 13 years ago and no it doesn't rub off.
4. I love to pick things. Tony has found this out and I think avoids me. I could stand in front of the mirror for hours checking things out. :)
5. I used to have to wear socks to bed. I couldn't sleep without them. Now that I am married for some reason I am ok, the socks have gone by the way side. I am cured!!!!

Trunk or Treat

I have never been more nervous for a Halloween than I am this year. Tony and I are the activities committee chairmans for our ward and are in charge of the trunk or treat. We have heard raving reviews about Trunk or Treats but I have never seen one before. I am not sure why I am so nervous about this party, I plan events everyday for a living this should be a breeze!

We are having a chili cookoff for the first hour. Of course we volunteered to bring chili but here is the catch. Being budget conscious we bought black, pinto, and kidney beans the kind you have to soak. We soaked them and made the chili last night. It cooked on low in the crockpot all night and the beans are so crunchy!! I am hoping a few more hours today will do the beans some good.

The second hour is the trunk or treat. The third hour we are doing a cake walk. Of course we will have prizes for costumes, chili, trunks etc. It really should be a fun night. I think I am more excited to see all the kids in their costumes.

What a fun tag. This is the cutest picture of my oldest nephew Abram. This picture was taken right before Chad and Ashley's wedding reception. Doesn't he look so handsome? Abram just turned 7 a few weeks ago and is still the most handsome little boy. I can't believe how much he has grown in the past couple of years. What a fun memory.

I have the best husband in the world. I am just so lucky to have someone is attentive and so thoughtful. He planned a surprise date for us on Saturday night. He told me on Friday to be in church clothes and ready to leave the house at 5 pm on Saturday. Of course I was intrigued but figured out where we were going. OC Tanner was sponsering a concert with the Utah Symphony and Mormon Tabernacle Choir and guest performers. I had seen the advertisement for it and thought it sounded wonderful but didn't think of seeing if we wanted to go. Luckily my sweet husband thought of it too.

The night started out with dinner at the Lion House pantry. You may ask why this restaurant? This is where we ate right before Tony proposed to me at Temple Square so it has a lot of sentimental meaning. I love the food there, so filling and homeade. Delicious!!! The concert was themed with Americana songs and broadway styled music. They had 2 guest performers, Denyce Graves an opera singer and then there was this gentleman name Brian Stokes Mitchell. He was so incredible. Check out his website and listen to some of the songs or go to itunes and listen to his broadway songs.

All I can say is people miss out by not going these events especially when they are free! Thanks my love for such a wonderful date and for always being so thoughtful!!!

Financial Peace University

Has anyone heard of Dave Ramsey? Well, if you haven't you should check out what he is all about. Tony and I's stake is sponsoring this wonderful financial program called "Financial Peace University" which Dave Ramsey created. The LDS church is not anyway affiliated with this program but our stake felt so strongly about this program they are sponsering it through Zion's bank.

Tony and I are so excited about it. We are excited to learn more about creating wealth and getting rid of debt. The first step is creating a $1000 emergency fund. We are on our way!!!What a great peace of mind and blessing it is to be on our way to financial freedom.

Feed Station #7

Tony and the kids have been volunteering for the Lotoja bike race for the past 4 years. The bike race is 200 miles and starts in Logan and ends up in Jackson Hole. I was lucky enough to be able to volunteer with them this year. They are always assigned to Feedstation #7 which is the last station before the riders go into Jackson Hole. It is such a beautiful area and so exciting to see them riding up the hill, what an accomplishment. Here are a few pictures:

What we have been up to!

It's a long time coming I know but boy has it been a busy last couple of months. Here are a few things we have been up to:

1. Stake Float

Tony and I are the Activity Chairman's for our ward. Since we have that calling we were asked to participate in helping create our stake float. For anyone that has been involved in a float before it's a big job, bigger than anyone thought. With only 2 months to get it done, we put many hours into our part.

The theme was "Still putting our Shoulder to the Wheel" We had a pioneer side with a handcart, and dirt. There was a picket fence in the middle with a Book of Mormon signifying a door to the other side which was our side. Our side contained our missionaries assigned to our stake, a show on the go board with the plan of salvation on it, and the Ogden temple. We thought the Ogden temple would be an easy project, boy were we wrong. I have to say Tony is so talented and was the main brain in creating this project.

We made the Ogden temple out of wood, chicken wire, burlap, styrofoam, and lots of comparing to pictures. The best part of the whole project was Tony's mother had an Angel Moroni tree topper that we put on top of the temple. It looked awesome. Here are a few pictures:

We even made it on the front page of the Standard Examiner which is Ogden's paper. The got the greatest shot of our steeple matching up with the Ogden Temple's steeple, it really made us feel great. Here is the picture:

2. I had my biggest event of the year. There were about 5700 attendees. Here is a great shot of all the ladies we plan for.3. The kids started school. Boy has this been an experience, it takes a lot of time and planning to get kids ready for school. School shopping, hair cutting, school supplies- good grief is all I have to say. I appreciate all our parents did to get us ready for school. I am a bad parent because I only took a picture of Amber's hair, we cut it short. I'll take more soon.

4. Chelsie heads off to college. Chelsie headed off to Utah State 2 sundays ago. We sure are excited for her, but miss her terribly. She started school this week and is doing great. She got a job at Staples, yah for Staples.

5. Tony has surgery. Tony had hernia surgery this past week. He is recovering well but boy is it painful. I sure hope he gets feeling better soon, I hate to see him in pain.

One of the best parts of becoming a parent (for me this was a quick transition), is the feeling of being so proud of your kids. I never understood when my mom would cry during a performance or be so proud when we brought home a good report card. In the past month of being married I have come to understand the many joys parenting brings and why parents feel the way they do.

Over the past couple of weeks, we have attended several end of the year events. Krista and Misty had their last choir concert of the year. They are so darling and such great singers. It's neat to see the progress they have made from the beginning of the year. Here are some pictures from the concert.

Also, both Chelsie and Krista were honored by the junior high and highschool at a special awards evening. Both the Highschool and juniorhigh scheduled the ceremony at the same time which was awful. Krista's was a dinner that we had payed for before we knew about Chelsie's so Tony and I went to the dinner and Grandma Marilyn went with Chelsie. I am so proud to say that not only did both girls receive an award for their honors achievement but also received specific awards for different school activities they participated in.

Krista was chosen out 30 kids for an award for her hardwork on the yearbook team this year. As they said "she touched every page of that book". We were so proud of her and like proud parents Tony and I both cried. I still get a bit teary thinking about it since it meant so much to her.

Chelsie also was on the honor roll and received a special award for her role in her Child development class. We were sad to not be there to cheer her on, but are so proud of her hard work.

Last night we went to Chelsie's final choir concert since she is graduating in a week. She is in an all girls ensemble group called the "Thursdays". I would have to say out of all the choirs they have the best voices and sing the best songs. They also get to wear cute sashes and a cute flower in their hair, makes it special. She is also in the Falcon choir which is a combined junior and senior choir. Chelsie has an amazing voice and it is always so fun to hear her sing. Some of the other groups I could of done without that is for sure.

Anyway, my point is at the end of the last performance which was senior's only they were all hugging, crying, etc. Me I was like good grief get over it but then I started to remember the feelings I had when highschool was ending too. It was such a mix of emotions, excitement, nervousness, an unsure feeling of what life would bring. I too remember crying as we sang the cheesiest of all songs, "It's hard to say goodbye".

Looking back, life really did begin after highschool. I am so excited for Chelsie as she begins this new adventure of going to school at Utah State this fall. She is such an amazing person and has so much to look forward to. Here's to Chelsie and Highschool graduation!!!!

Our Saturday Project

Tony and I talk each week about what project we want to tackle on Saturday. We both love projects we can do together and we have plenty we can work on. This week we decided to work on our flower bed which Tony has wanted to do since he moved into this house. I meant to take a "real" before picture but forgot until we had started.

This is the area we started with, the only thing we left is the rose bush.
We borrowed Tony's brothers truck and went to Lowe's to buy the bricks.

After 2 trips to Lowe's, 3 trips to J&J nursey(side note-if you ever want to go to the coolest place come and go to this nursey. It is huge and has massive amounts of flowers and plants, I fell in love with it!) Here is the finished project.
I can't believe how beautiful it looks, I can't help but go out and look at it every few minutes. Hooray for Saturday projects!!!

Dreams do come true

Ok, so I have wanted a Kitchenaid for as long as I can remember but I never felt like I could spend the money to buy one. I asked for one for Christmas for several years but my dad would always reply "when you learn how to cook I'll get you one". Well, my sweet husband knew how badly I wanted one and we spent some of our wedding money to purchase it. I seriously woke up giddy with delight this morning knowing I can make something. I'll keep you posted on how my first try works out!!

Friday night was a real treat. Misty who is involved in a Musical Theatre class had her spring performance which was Grease. Tony, Amber, Grandma Cude and I went to see her dance and sing her little heart out. She did so great and we had a great time. Maybe she'll be the next superstar!!!

Wedding day- April 19, 2008

Hi all! Tony and I were married in the Salt Lake Temple on April 19, 2008. Not only did I marry the love of my life but I now have 5 beautiful children.

Our reception was at Little America, Tricia and my girls were in my line along with Aarone.

I wish I could post all of the pictures but I will post some more at a later date. It was the perfect wedding day more than I could have ever asked for. Thanks to everyone that helped out, came, and made our day so special.
